Christmas Fayre 11th December 2015
From Father Christmas arriving on a fire engine to the very last raffle prize being announced, the Christmas Fayre was fun for all involved.
The children were busy in their classrooms when they heard the fire engine sirens, so following school procedure, they all went outside. Only to discover that it was actually Father Christmas coming to see them!
After a quick visit with Year 1, Father Christmas then went over to say hello to the Reception children, and finally Nursery children. As it’s a very long way for Father Christmas to travel, he was taken off for a refreshing cup of tea whilst the children each had the opportunity to have a look at (and sit in) the fire engines.  They were all extremely excited, and the fire crews were wonderful answering every question thrown at them.
At 2pm it was time for the Fayre to begin! Thanks to the generosity of the parents and a local cake maker, there were cakes and biscuits galore! As well as hot chocolate with all the trimmings, and mulled apple juice for the adults. There were plenty of games for the children to play, and of course, Father Christmas’s Grotto to visit upstairs. Whilst it did become very busy, every child saw Father Christmas and came home with a special gift. Thanks to the support of many local businesses this years Raffle was spectacular.  Not only were there food prizes, but a stunning Swarovski crystal canvas and an IPad Mini were also up for grabs.  Not to be left out, the children also had a raffle of their own with great prizes for every age group.  The gifts and crafts stall was packed with makes from the children and a few other gift ideas just in time for Christmas.  From wrapping paper, to tree decorations through reindeer food and hot chocolate there was plenty for people to choose from.
All in all, the Fayre went fantastically and John Locke parents showed how much they want to be involved in their children’s school once again with a great turn out and show of support. It can only be bigger and better next year.
How will Father Christmas arrive in 2016? Make sure you come along to the next Christmas Fayre to find out!’
